Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter & Industry Leaders Announce Formation of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association

During festivities at the Governor's Mansion, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter announced formation of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA). The CCIA is the only industry-led, industry-focused cleantech group in the state and one of only four cleantech business associations in the country. In the six months that the CCIA has been in existence, it has grown to 85 members, lobbied for innovation language to be included in the 2009 American Clean Energy and Security Act and passed two pieces of legislation that help Cleantech technology businesses grow in Colorado.

Denver, CO, July 25, 2009 -- Thursday, during launch festivities at the Governor's Mansion, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter announced formation of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA). The announcement was made together with Christine Shapard, founding Executive Director of the CCIA who said "The CCIA is the only industry-led, industry-focused cleantech group in the state created to solidify Colorado's position as the nation's cleantech leader, new energy economy driver and technology innovator and we are one of only four cleantech business associations in the country."

"Over the past few years, Colorado has become a national leader in the New Energy Economy, and one key reason is the thriving community of 300 cleantech companies and 20,000 employees based here," Gov. Ritter said. "Even in this difficult economy, cleantech remains a vital part of our forward-looking economic-development strategy. The Colorado Cleantech Industry Association will help harness the power and the potential of this important economic sector as we lead Colorado forward and establish this state as the cleantech capital of the world."

In the six months that the CCIA has been in existence, the organization has grown to 85 members, lobbied for innovation language to be included in the 2009 American Clean Energy and Security Act and passed two pieces of legislation that help Cleantech technology businesses grow in Colorado. Bell Aquaculture has begun operation of the nation's largest yellow perch (Perca flavescens) farm at production facilities located in Albany, Indiana, northeast of Indianapolis, with an initial capacity of less than 100,000 pounds of fish per year and ultimately exceeding 9 million pounds per year. Yellow perch is one of the most popular of all North American pan fish. It has a mild, sweet flavor with firm white flesh and low fat levels, making it a favorite in residential and commercial kitchens alike.

Albany, IN, March 10, 2008 -- Bell Aquaculture has begun operation of the nation's largest yellow perch farm. The announcement is made by Michael Miller, President & COO, who says the company's first aquaculture farm is located in Albany, Indiana, northeast of Indianapolis about 10 miles outside of Muncie. The Albany facility currently has the production capacity of less than 100,000 pounds of fish per year and ultimately will exceed 9 million pounds per year. In late December, the Associated Press reported the first certificate of occupancy was issued by Delaware County for Bell Aquaculture's initial buildings in Albany.

According to Miller, the company will employ 70 in Albany at full build-out of the new facilities. Bell Aquaculture's Bell Perch™ product is expected to be available for restaurant purchase spring 2009 and consumer purchase in the future.

Yellow perch is one of the most popular of all North American pan fish. It has a mild, sweet flavor with firm white flesh and low fat levels, making it a favorite in residential and commercial kitchens alike. COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE - A New Option To Plastic Surgery And Injections

Cosmetic Acupuncture, a holistic and healthy alternative to plastic surgery, Botox® Cosmetic injections, chemical peels, and other procedures is now an option to those who want to try to look younger. Denver-based acupuncturist Martha Lucas, Ph.D., L.Ac., has launched a national educational campaign about the new treatment alternative. Lucas, along with colleague Denise Ellinger, L.Ac., offer Cosmetic Acupuncture Seminars throughout the nation to train acupuncturists about the new procedure. To date, they've held seminars in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, and Tampa, as well as in Vancouver, B.C.

(Denver, CO - August 19, 2004) - Martha Lucas, Ph.D., L.Ac., a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine who specializes in Cosmetic Acupuncture, has launched an educational campaign about the new cosmetic acupuncture techniques now available to consumers throughout the nation. According to Dr. Lucas, Cosmetic Acupuncture is a holistic and healthy alternative to plastic surgery, Botox® Cosmetic injections, chemical peels, and other procedures that people are using in their efforts to look younger.

"While some of the aforementioned procedures can be dangerous and have serious side effects, none of them actually improve one's health. This fact makes Cosmetic Acupuncture the perfect alternative - you look and feel younger because your health improves," Dr. Lucas explains. "As fine wrinkles disappear and deeper ones can 'level' out, your basic facial 'personality' remains (except that you're happier and more vibrant). You retain the character in your face since the structure of your face isn't changed with Cosmetic Acupuncture."

Acupuncturists may tell you that they do "facial acupuncture" but Lucas advises consumers to check out the acupuncturist's specific training in cosmetic or facial acupuncture as there are several protocols or systems out there. The procedure that Dr. Lucas uses is called Mei Zen (translated as "beautiful person").

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), of which Cosmetic Acupuncture is a part, is a complete system of medicine that treats the patient as a whole and looks for the cause of symptoms or diseases in the overall context of a person's life. TCM includes Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, QiGong Medical Massage, and nutritional advice along with some other therapies. Dr. Lucas prefers to use the word traditional rather than alternative when she refers to the therapies she uses because they are part of a tradition that is more than 5000 years old. "In that respect," she says, "modern Western medicine is the alternative, not TCM or Acupuncture, since modern medicine has a much shorter history." Lucas argues however that each system has its own particular genius and that TCM never attempts to invade the areas where western medicine can provide a better solution than TCM.

A Clinical Instructor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Lucas received her Ph.D. in Research Psychology from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky, and her degree in TCM from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver. Besides her direct training in TCM school, she has advanced training in QiGong and pulse-taking diagnostics. Lucas works at The Colorado Center of Traditional Medicine located in the Capitol Hill area of downtown Denver and she also makes house, nursing home, and hospital calls.
